Assoc Prof Jamus Jerome Lim asked the Minister for Health what is the rationale behind the policy that two COVID-19-positive individuals, with different travel histories and discharge dates, can be roomed together.
Mr Ong Ye Kung: Confirmed COVID-19 cases may be isolated together in the same room as there is no risk from reinfection during the course of their infection and immediately after an infection. This is no different from other infectious diseases such as measles or chicken pox, where patients with the same infectious disease can stay together.
Such arrangements ensure that we have sufficient overall capacity to handle a surge in cases.
