Ms He Ting Ru asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs (a) how many women serve at the Permanent Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Ambassador-at-large, Director-General and Deputy Director-General, Head of Mission and Deputy Head of Mission levels, and their equivalents in the Ministry; (b) what proportion does women account for at each of these levels respectively; and (c) what proportion does women account for amongst the foreign service officers and total Ministry staff respectively.
Dr Vivian Balakrishnan: Women constitute about half of the staff and a quarter of the senior appointments at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
