STUDIES ON COSTS OF AIR POLLUTION FROM ALL DOMESTIC SOURCES

MP He Ting Ru

Ms He Ting Ru asked the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (a) whether the Government has conducted studies on the (i) economic costs, (ii) healthcare costs and (iii) excess mortality associated with air pollution from all domestic sources; and (b) if so, whether these findings can be shared.

Ms Grace Fu Hai Yien: Similar questions were answered in this House in March 2017 and November 2022. Since then, we have not been informed of any new published studies on health costs associated with air pollution in Singapore. The Member may wish to refer to the answers given. [Please refer to “Link between Better Air Quality and Reduction in Healthcare Costs”, Official Report, 1 March 2017, Vol 94, Issue 36, Oral Answers to Questions section; and “Studies on Annual Mortality and Cost Associated with Air Pollution from Human Activities”, Official Report, 28 November 2022, Vol 95, Issue 76, Oral Answers to Questions section.]
