ACTIONS TAKEN TO RECLAIM MONIES INCORRECTLY DISBURSED TO MERCHANTS OR CITIZENS THROUGH SINGAPOREDISCOVERS VOUCHERS SCHEME

MP He Ting Ru

Ms He Ting Ru asked the Minister for Trade and Industry (a) whether remedial action has commenced to reclaim any money disbursed to merchants or citizens incorrectly through the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers scheme; (b) if so, what types of actions have been taken; and (c) how much has been clawed back so far.

Mr Gan Kim Yong: The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has commenced action to recover the disbursements made to ineligible persons and aims to complete this over the next few months. Individuals who fail to make repayments could be made ineligible for future campaigns that offer similar benefits to citizens.

STB’s retrospective checks after the Auditor-General’s Office’s audit indicated that all merchants onboarded to the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers scheme were eligible, hence, no clawback is required from merchants.
