CLAIMS FOR DAMAGES TO PROPERTY OR PERSONAL INJURY CAUSED BY TREES MANAGED BY NPARKS

MP He Ting Ru

Ms He Ting Ru asked the Minister for National Development over the last 10 years (a) how many claims for damages to property or personal injury caused by trees on public property managed by NParks were received; (b) how many claims eventually resulted in payments being made; and (c) what was the mean amount of such payments made.

Mr Desmond Lee: The National Parks Board (NParks) manages over two million urban trees in Singapore’s parks, park connectors, state lands and along roads. From 2014 to 2023, NParks received an annual average of 87 claims for damages to property or personal injury caused by trees in these areas, of which about one-third of the claims resulted in payments. The payment amounts depend on the circumstances and merits of each case.
