Mr Dennis Tan Lip Fong asked the Prime Minister how many persons who have voted in the 2023 Presidential Election (i) are subsequently notified that they did not vote (ii) have applied to have their names restored to the register of electors and (iii) to date, have since been restored to the register of electors, respectively.
Mr Chan Chun Sing (for the Prime Minister): Post-Presidential Election 2023 (PE2023), the Elections Department individually informed 174,466 voters who were in our records as not having voted at the PE2023 (non-voter) to restore his/her name to the Registers of Electors.
As of end March 2024, 104,355 non-voters applied to restore their names to the Registers of Electors, of which 1,563 claimed that they had voted at the 2023 Presidential Election. All applications for restoration were successful.
The Elections Department will continue to remind non-voters to restore their names to the Registers of Electors through press releases and notifications via Singpass.
