Mr Dennis Tan Lip Fong asked the Minister for Culture, Community and Youth whether he can provide an update on (i) the works and improvements being carried out at the Hougang Sports Centre, including information on the facilities which will be enhanced or added and (ii) the timelines expected for such works.
Mr Edwin Tong Chun Fai: Hougang Sport Centre is currently undergoing renovation works. When completed by 2026, residents in the area can look forward to a larger gym, new fitness studios, a sheltered teaching pool with ramp access, new water play features, new activity areas, new fitness stations, basketball courts and a new running track.
The refreshed sport centre will be accessible to all in the community with barrier-free access, sheltered drop-offs and facilities connected by covered linkways.
